Dear AU5K Creator,
Dec. 19th, 2025 02:44 pm<
I adore the messed-up dynamic between the two - Tenma's the father figure, but Johan's the one trying to mold him into something. So I'm very much into the whole mental manipulation/corruption aspect of their relationship, as well as really creepy caretaking aspects and Johan's penchant for dressing up like his sister. Just great times with the two of them and I'd love anything that goes into Johan just messing with Tenma, even if he knows it's not going to get Tenma to break (but maybe he'll demonstrate just how flexible he is in other areas).

So I went down the rabbit hole on this one recently and wow, I'm so glad I did because this kind of dynamic is what I love! I adore the whole “we're the only two people who can understand each other but we're destined to be on opposite sides” paired with “okay, screw that, there's nothing in the rules that says we can't meet somewhere in the middle and spend the rest of our lives as equals.” And while I did enjoy the anime, there's so much in the manga that wasn't adapted in (please, I want another season so I can see their time in New York, because wow, that was tailor made for fanfic). I love that William is so brilliant when it comes to everything except realizing that his boyfriend would actually like for him to live, thank you, and that Sherlock decided to just speed-run all the tropes for their relationship (hurt/comfort, domestic fic, enemies to lovers, murder husbands, etc.) So I would love more with the two of them (and their very pretty hair, because damn, Sherlock, those are some luscious post-time skip locks you got going on).

Look, this pairing had me at the "Brooks Brothers" scene where Shiwan Khan is just totally fanboying and being the most jovial villain, and Cranston has that expression of someone that kind of wishes he didn't give up that whole murder thing because oh my god, why won't he shut up. And then there's knives and bullets and mind-fucking and somewhere along the way, I started shipping them in an universe where Khan gets to fanboy a little bit more. Maybe it's a pre-canon one where Khan and "Ying Ko" get to take over the world. Maybe it's one where Khan wins, but decides to keep his enemy alive because what fun is world domination if there's no one to show off in front of. It could even be post-canon where Khan shows up and is totally on the side of good now, just ignore those randomly stabbed criminals, please.
DNWs: Animal harm, extreme underage, scat/watersports, focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine), permanent nominated character death (transformations/resurrections are fine). I'm perfectly fine with Lamont/Margo being mentioned if it's set during canon/post-canon, as long as it's not a focal point (past relationship or friends with benefits fine, OTP where Lamont constantly thinks of her, no.)

Monster - Urasawa Naoki (Anime & Manga)
Johan Liebert/Tenma Kenzou (Monster)
I adore the messed-up dynamic between the two - Tenma's the father figure, but Johan's the one trying to mold him into something. So I'm very much into the whole mental manipulation/corruption aspect of their relationship, as well as really creepy caretaking aspects and Johan's penchant for dressing up like his sister. Just great times with the two of them and I'd love anything that goes into Johan just messing with Tenma, even if he knows it's not going to get Tenma to break (but maybe he'll demonstrate just how flexible he is in other areas).

Prompts:
ALL: Alien (1979) AU, ALL: Arctic (or Antarctic) Research Station AU, ALL: Brainship AU, ALL: Everyone wakes up amnesiac on a spaceship, ALL: Westworld AU
Johan as a robot or some sort of alien entity makes so much sense. I can totally see him just blithely experimenting on people left and right with random alien shit he's found for his sheer amusement or playing along with humanity until he gets bored in which case... Sadly, Tenma will almost certainly regret the fact that Johan is actually fond of him and thus gets a full view of what's about to go down.
ALL: Character who's just a little monstrous in canon has actual monster features, ALL: Eldritch/Lovecraftian AU, ALL: Lighthouse Keeper/Merperson AU, ALL: Pact/Contract With A Demon, ALL: SCP Foundation Fusion, ALL: Vampire AU
More monsters, part 2! This is the supernatural/paranormal edition, which means demons, vampires, eldritch horrors, and carnivorous merpeople that have very sharp teeth. I'd love anything where Tenma just accidentally stumbles his way into making some sort of pact or awakening something that really should have been kept sleeping and everything is bad now forever. And I'm down with any kind of body horror or xeno you want to throw in there, seriously.
ALL: Convent/Monastery AU, ALL: Gothic Fiction Genre AU
Johan in a different historical context would be fun. Maybe he's the new pretty young novice who shows up at the monastery and Tenma's the only one that's like, hey, you know he might be the devil? Or Tenma's called out to be the doctor at some creepy estate on the moors and you know, this is just going to end with everything either burning to the ground or Johan atticwifing him.
ALL: Detective Noir AU, ALL: Giallo AU
More historical fun, this time with detective tropes. Johan would definitely work as the homme fatale to Tenma's weary detective, just leading him down the path of no return. And you can't tell me Johan's predilection for cross-dressing is just made for giallo.
ALL: Different First Meeting AU, ALL: One or more characters has amnesia
This is sort of a nebulous category, but I'm fascinated by the idea of them meeting either earlier or later than when they did in canon. Maybe Johan's not quite as fucked up when he gets to Tenma (or his fucked-upness goes in a different direction) or Tenma's already been beaten down in life when he comes across a young, charismatic politician who takes a special interest in him. Also, I will never say no to an amnesiac Tenma just getting fucked with (and fucked by) Johan.
All: Hunger Games AU, ALL: Squid Game AU
Yeah, they really shouldn't have let him participate. For Hunger Games, I'm picturing Johan as a contestant/victor while Tenma's maybe a Capitol doctor who's very terrified by the fact that no one paid attention to how well he did in murdering everyone else. And Squid Games would just be a delight with Tenma shoved into the role of sympathetic protagonist while Johan's definitely pulling double duty as faux contestant/Front Man trying to corrupt the shit out of him.
ALL: Omegaverse AU – Alpha/Omega
I'm good either way here. Alpha!Johan deciding to claim Omega!Tenma because it's just another way to break him, sure! Omega!Johan just utterly destroying Alpha!Tenma by using his own biological impulses against him and then making him feel like shit for claiming him? Yes, please!
憂国のモリアーティ | Yuukoku no Moriarty | Moriarty the Patriot (Manga)
Sherlock Holmes/William James Moriarty (Yuukoku no Moriarty) (MTP)
So I went down the rabbit hole on this one recently and wow, I'm so glad I did because this kind of dynamic is what I love! I adore the whole “we're the only two people who can understand each other but we're destined to be on opposite sides” paired with “okay, screw that, there's nothing in the rules that says we can't meet somewhere in the middle and spend the rest of our lives as equals.” And while I did enjoy the anime, there's so much in the manga that wasn't adapted in (please, I want another season so I can see their time in New York, because wow, that was tailor made for fanfic). DNWs: Animal harm, extreme underage, scat/watersports, focus on unrequested pairings involving nominated characters (mentions of past canon relationships are fine and I do ship Albert/Mycroft as well), permanent nominated character death (character transformation/resurrection is fine).
Prompts:
ALL: Angels/Demons AU, ALL: Pact/Contract With A Demon
Not me thinking about all of the wing imagery and William calling Sherlock a devil for tempting him to live. I have this idea where demons and angels are known and everyone's fairly certain that William is an angel, because of how ethereal and perfect he is, while Sherlock is clearly a demon, because come on. Neither one disabuses society of the notion (Sherlock doesn't care, William is just waiting for maximum dramatic impact to reveal it). Or Sherlock accidentally summoning a demon while he's high and then deciding to save his soul because no one's beyond saving (William just looks at him with horror once he realizes he's serious).
ALL: Beauty and the Beast AU, All: Tam Lin AU
Okay, so yeah, it could be any adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, but there's something extra amusing about the thought of Sherlock and William dueting their hearts out while Louis in clock form fumes and plots to kill Sherlock. And you better believe that the dramatic last scene of Tam Lin!Moriarty would definitely be Sherlock clinging to William and refusing to let go no matter what.
ALL: Boarding School AU
I feel like any school that had both Sherlock and William would definitely have a murder, if only because they'd drive someone to madness.
ALL: Bodyswap AU
Oh, the hilarity of it. William would do fine – Mrs. Hudson and John would probably appreciate the relative peace of his presence, but the only thing stopping half the Moriarty household from killing Sherlock would be that they need to switch them back.
ALL: Character has Keita Mori's powers (Watchmaker of Filigree Street), ALL: Christmas Carol AU (ghosts share visions with a character that help them change their future)
I can imagine so much angst and melancholy here if it's William seeing the future because at first, he wouldn't believe that Sherlock would care that much, and then it would be so much worse when he realizes he does.
ALL: Characters in arranged marriage AU catch feelings, All: Marriage Arranged Because of Matching Soulmarks
I mean, they're already all but married in canon, so it's just another step up.
ALL: Detective Noir AU, ALL: Gothic Fiction Genre AU, ALL: Knight!Char A is tasked with hunting Witch!Char B
Cat and mouse games played in different genres/settings but with the same dynamics of “you must be my enemy but I don't want you to be.”
ALL: Gundam Fusion, ALL: Pacific Rim AU — Drift Compatible
First off, they are definitely drift compatible to an alarming degree, and secondly, William is definitely the Char here (or maybe closer to Zechs, complete with dramatic mask-breaking at the end).
ALL: Hearts can be nonfatally removed and given to others to keep safe/injure/hide/etc
Angst! So much angst potential here for this! Did William remove his heart so he couldn't care? Does Sherlock willingly give his to William who probably yells at him for being stupid, how could you trust me with this?
All: Murder on the Orient Express fusion
Sherlock's hanging out on a train because Mycroft forced him to leave London for a while and there's a murder! But weirdly, everyone on board seems to be connected in some way to the victim... including that very attractive professor he struck up a rapport with.
ALL: Phantom of the Opera AU
I don't know, I was just thinking of William doing that whole “I will make you my leading man” to Sherlock and my brain went to weird places.
ALL: Superhero/Supervillain AU, ALL: X-Men AU
It's basically in this genre already – you've got William trying to be the epic villain while maneuvering Sherlock to be his archnemesis. And Sherlock and William have that same “we're on the same side, but with different methods” thing that Charles and Erik have going as well.
The Shadow (1994)
Lamont Cranston/Shiwan Khan (The Shadow)
Look, this pairing had me at the "Brooks Brothers" scene where Shiwan Khan is just totally fanboying and being the most jovial villain, and Cranston has that expression of someone that kind of wishes he didn't give up that whole murder thing because oh my god, why won't he shut up. And then there's knives and bullets and mind-fucking and somewhere along the way, I started shipping them in an universe where Khan gets to fanboy a little bit more. Prompts:
ALL: Accidental marriage through unintentional magically binding action, ALL: Marriage by Winning Ritual Combat To Gain Partner's Hand
Whether intentional or accidental, the thought of these getting married is just such a delight for me. I could see some sort of epic telepathic confrontation between them gone terribly wrong (or right, from Khan's perspective). Also, you know,Lamont never checked the fine print of conquest during his Ying Ko days or he'd have seen that if you conquer what your potential partner conquered, then the next step is naturally...
ALL: Canon's Plot Interrupted By An Alien Invasion, All: Evil Dead AU - Someone Read From The Necronomicon; Now Everyone Must Fight Deadites, All: Zombie Apocalypse
Just picturing these two duking it out when all of a sudden War of the Worlds (1938) actually happens or someone else got a hold of a forbidden artifact and now there's bigger things at stake. I mean, you can't cloud a person's mind without BRAINS!
ALL: Dark City AU, ALL: Eldritch God and Worshipper
I'm intrigued by the idea of Lamont being some sort of ultra powerful being that's forgotten what he was and is leading a relatively normal life until things begin to crack at the seams.
ALL: Doctor/Patient AU, ALL: One or more characters has amnesia
Maybe Khan takes revenge on Lamont and gives him a dose of his own medicine (mind-fuckery) or perhaps a mutual enemy wipes both of their memories and now the one's that remembered is trying to convince the other one of who they really are.
ALL: Dragons - Characters are dragons (with humanoid forms), ALL: Vampire AU
Just a couple of monsters, one of whom is desperately trying to pretend he's no longer one and the other one is encouraging him to give in all the way.
ALL: Dreamsharing - Any time characters are asleep at the same time they share dreams, ALL: Inception AU, ALL: Soulmate AU - Shared Dreams
It is canonical that people can share dreams, so just change the circumstances or target a bit and all of a sudden, even your sleep isn't safe from that guy that keeps insisting that you should rule the world together.
ALL: Genderswap/Rule 63
Lamont as a woman would bring up a whole bunch of intriguing possibilities – does the Shadow still retain their male form, which means she's even further away from suspicion? And as canon hinted at, it's much harder to be a free-spirited woman than a typical rich playboy, so how does she cope with those limitations? And man, the thought of a female Khan, who probably had to work so much harder and fiercer to make her name known, seeking f!Lamont out to help her burn the world down...
ALL: Hearts can be nonfatally removed and given to others to keep safe/injure/hide/etc
What if Khan got a hold of Lamont's heart quite literally, possibly as a tool to keep him from interfering in the short-term and to try to court him over to his side in the long-term?
ALL: Modern with Magic AU
I love the time period of this film, but I'd be interested to see how it might translate to something more recent. How would Khan's plans change? How would Lamont's?
ALL: The bad guys win/The good guys fail
Maybe Khan doesn't blow up New York, but he still manages to get what he wants with Lamont subjugated beneath him. I imagine he'd be gracious in his victory, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't make it perfectly clear to Lamont exactly what he expects from him from now on (and probably also secretly hopes that Lamont might try to pull off a coup or two since it's no fun for him if they're not at each other's throats).
